Lisa Maïofiss – Céramiste

“ A search for balance between shapes, textures and details. “

In my ceramics studio, I handcraft unique pieces at the crossroads of contemporary art, craft, and design.

My singular, textured creations are designed to enrich a distinctive interior decor.

Each piece — whether a decorative object, ceramic furniture, jewelry, or a functional item — reflects a gesture and a refined aesthetic.
Rooted in artisanal know-how, they invite us to rediscover the beauty of materials and the richness of textures.

I also collaborate with architects and designers on bespoke projects.

I draw inspiration from architecture, design, and fashion to create unique pieces or small series. To bring my creations to life, I work with different clays, each chosen for its technical and aesthetic qualities.

The exploration of materials and textures is central to my work. Weaving patterns, ropes, and lines are recurring motifs in my creations. I like to play with the contrast between the simplicity of shapes and the richness of surfaces.

Each piece, though minimalist in appearance, reveals meticulous attention to detail and reliefs.

In a world where mass production tends to standardize everyday objects, I embrace a singular and personal approach to creation.

My pieces are designed to last, to find their place both in spaces and in the lives of those who adopt them.

They carry within them a story—the story of the artisan’s gesture and the choice of materials. Each creation is an invitation to rediscover the richness of handmade work, to appreciate the beauty of imperfections, and to reconnect with a more sensitive and poetic approach to design.

My work lies at the crossroads of influences and disciplines, oscillating between tradition and modernity, between rigor and spontaneity. Through my creations, I seek to offer objects that are not only functional, but that tell a story, awaken sensations, and engage in dialogue with their environment.

Collaborations

Alongside my personal collections, I enjoy collaborating with interior designers and architects on specific projects. These exchanges are a valuable source of inspiration and creative stimulation. Engaging in dialogue with other professionals allows me to incorporate particular constraints into my work, which fuels my process and pushes me to explore new avenues.

These collaborations take various forms: creating bespoke pieces for interior layouts, crafting lighting fixtures, coffee tables, stools… Working in synergy with other disciplines enriches my approach and opens me up to new aesthetic and technical perspectives.

My creative studio

All my creations are entirely handmade in my studio located in Chaville, near Paris, between Versailles and Sèvres.

My studio is a space for research where I can give free rein to my imagination, experiment with new material combinations, and explore different techniques.

Surrounded by images that inspire me, samples, and my tools, I start from my sketchbooks to experiment with new textures, shapes, and balances, creating entirely new pieces.

Through each stage—building, texturing, assembling, firing, glazing, and adding ropes—the pieces gradually take shape. At every step, I seek balance between volumes, textures, and details. This creative process allows the material to reveal itself progressively, each stage adding a new dimension to the piece until it is ready to assume its final form.
